So yes, you’ve seen me on The Voice Australia belting my voice out as well as dancing like a crazy (but not drunk) person.

People have been asking me, was it fun? Definitely it was fun and I enjoyed every single moment of it. Was it fair? Based on that vocal, I would say yes and I’m satisfied with the coaches’ reactions. Will I really sing at Guy Sebastian‘s birthday? I’m just waiting for him to get in touch to organise it. *wink *wink! Did I give it my all? I did that and more, some people think it was too much and they’re entitled to their opinion but I’m happy with what I delivered. Will I do it again? If given another chance, why not!? It’s a perfect opportunity to go nuts! What am I doing lately? I’m working and collaborating with great individuals for an album and I can’t wait to release it by the end of this year.

Check out my first song, Walk Away, to get a taste of what’s to come! What am I doing for now? Check out my gig guide and have a fabulous party with me!

The Purple Doves Band will be performing all of Prince’s hits live at Ettamogah Hotel! We’ll bring you back to the past to relive his music and make you dance til midnight. It’s the perfect opportunity to see the production of the show so invite your friends and families! This will be so much fun!

The last episode before the grand finals and thank you Channel 7 for giving Australia a very astounding episode for All Together Now. It was a roller coaster of emotions.

Carl De Villa on All Together Now tears

First stop is, Caitlin Min Fa. Opening an episode is always hard but tonight, you split the judges in half, which is quite surprising. For me, the song Firework by Katy Perry didn’t spark for me. But I salute you for showcasing your talent to us. It’s a pleasure seeing you on stage.

Anton Aktila, the singing librarian, was the next contender and his rendition for Versace on the Floor by Bruno Mars was sexy and contagious. On a side note, that neck tie is gold! Tell me where you got it from, Anton?

Meanwhile, Didy, I believe a lot of performers know your struggle and I feel for you. I’ve been there but we just need to keep on going. I didn’t stand up when you sang, The Climb by Miley Cyrus, coz it didn’t move me. Or maybe I’m just a cold-hearted performer. I hope not. Strive for the best, Didy.

Sabrina Davis, gorgeous hair dresser and Pink impersonator from Western Australia. I was captivated, and I stood up late for her coz my eyes were stuck on you, babe! Brilliant performance! You have a very welcoming smile.

Tarryn StokesThis is Me from The Greatest Showman left me speechless and crying. It’s a very inspirational song that helps people break the barriers and strive forward. You never know what the future brings and shouldn’t let other people drag you down. Also, congratulations to you for slaying the night’s episode. You were amazing. Whitney Houston would be proud and yes, I will always love you.

Thank you all for sharing your voices to us. Music keeps us going and it gives us all the highs and lows in life.

I’m so proud to release my NEW SINGLE, ‘Walk Away’ for your listening pleasure. It’s a beautiful ballad about heartbreak and loss, a collaboration with a very talented songwriter and arranger, OC Oscar Cabarse. Get it now on iTunes or wherever you stream music!

Walk Away - Carl De Villa

Walk Away – Carl De Villa

I had a dream you and me
And now I have to know what you said to me
Can’t get it out of my head It’s written on your face
Worried about the same things
But it cannot end just like a dream

Why did you say, you don’t need me anymore?
Why’d you walk away? When I had done nothing wrong.
And when your back was turned My eyes, they burned
Why’d you walk away? Ooh why’d you walk away?

Life with you is no more
And now I am begging you to end my misery
Can’t get it out of my head I didn’t want you to
Taint all my memories, Now I see the end it’s not a dream

Repeat Chorus

You said it’s a lie, just like my dream
Coz now I’m here with you
But I can see it in your eyes
Please don’t walk away
Oh, don’t walk away

Repeat Chorus

What a surprising night in All Together Now Australia. I was surprised, I had fun and I had a few moments with my wonderful neighbour, Mary Kiani. Kudos to Alex for always reminding the 100 that we are not giving away ticket to a chook raffle, it’s $100,000.

For me, the first performer wasn’t that great and was a bit off. Indi Williams performing Justin Bieber’s Sorry needed more training and practice. He’s still young and needs a good teacher. Trust me, I was like him when I was his age. Lusy Rahmawaty with Adele’s Hello was sweet and kind but I didn’t get the connection from her.

What captured my attention was Gaynor Tension with her Shirley Bassey take on Pink’s Get This Party Started. Just wow! The moment she set foot on stage, she was in character and I loved her. I and the rest of Australia was definitely entertained. It’s nice to see the entertainment industry is still alive from pop to rock, and impersonation to drag. Let us show all our support to all kinds of music coz a world without music is totally boring. I love love love you Gaynor Tension.

Special mention to Jacob Hapeta Sweet Caroline was sentimental. It reminded me of parents when they sing karaoke along with their kids. Platinum Harmony singing Ariana Grande’s One Last Time thank you for sharing your quadruple vocal talent. You all sang phenomenal when you harmonised. Lauren and Georgie Bannard’s Land of 1000 dances was joyful to watch. It felt like they were there to share the joy rather than focusing in a competition. Good thing Ronan remembered him too!

Jason Hill Creep was mesmerising. Well done in getting the final seat. To the other finalist, Emma Mylott, her jazz take on You Give Love A Bad Name from Bon Jovi was interesting. She has the talent and the voice but I think it would also be nice to do your own thing and not copy a style from Postmodern Jukebox. Congratulations to you Emma and I’m glad you got the seat. I’ll see you at the finals.

So, for this episode, my love and favourite is Gaynor Tension. She was the epitome of fun and entertainment from start to finish. She is my wildcard for this episode, by the way. Tell me who your favourites, likes and loves from the episode are.

Get this party started

More than halfway through this season of All Together Now Australia, and tonight on episode 5, rock ‘n’ roll music played all night long!

We started out with kind of a bang bang with Emma who had a great attitude, but got a bit tongue-tied in the rap. We quickly moved on to Greg, a fitness musician who had the look, but didn’t make me wake up for his song. He was very nervous, and you could hear the tremble in his voice.

Moving on to the first big performance of the night, Harmony in Three, three pitch-perfect divas singing an even bigger diva – Tina Turner and Proud Mary! They made almost all of us get up and dance!

I loved James the truckie singing Jimmy Barnes’ Working Class Man. I could tell he loved sharing his voice with the crowd and he was one of my standout performances of the episode.

Then we had Dean, or Feminem (great name!) performing We Are The Champions. Dean looked fantastic, but the song didn’t quite make it.

Hanna sang Florence and the Machine’s You’ve Got The Love which really worked well with her unique and beautiful voice and sent her through to the top 2 of the episode along with Harmony in Three.

The final two performers were Mivon and Afrotanium, and Mark singing Kesha’s Praying. Mark was a beautiful singer and gave a great performance of a fantastic song, and it’s a shame he didn’t quite make it through to the finals.

The final sing-off between Hanna and Harmony in Three didn’t start well, with Hanna choosing Rather Be, but she stumbled a bit and ended up with a very disappointing 25 points. This paved the way for Harmony in Three to move on to the grand final, but they not only did that, but performed One Night Only (from Dreamgirls, which I’ve also been privileged to perform in a stage adaptation) and got every single judge to stand up, giving them a perfect 100!

What a night! Check out previous recaps here.

Hope you didn’t miss last Sunday’s episode of All Together Now Australia. First up was the incredible Pam Wachira. It was a fantastic start that made all 100 judges come together and stand up! Well, except that one guy… Ninety-nine is a tough number to beat and it was very intimidating for the next performers to see that number.

I loved Harley Mckinnon’s passion when he was on stage. His hands were literally shaking but he was giving his all. I’m glad he got the second spot of the podium.

And yes, I absolutely have to talk about Jessica Boyd. What a damn awesome surprise! That voice is to die for and she was the queen of the night. In my opinion, she didn’t need to mash it up with Lady Gaga coz the song was already a stunner. I get her reasoning as to why she had to do it. Opera is not getting that much attention compared to pop music and she nailed both songs here.

Special mention to Annette Dawes’ performance. She was captivating and you can feel her soul singing out to the crowd. I also love her vintage dress.

The final showdown was between two remarkable singers, Pam and Jessica, with Jessica the clear favourite with her rendition of All I Ask of You from The Phantom of the Opera. I can’t wait to see Jessica in the finale with Lai from episode one and Royston from episode two.

Stay tuned again for the next episode on Sunday at 7pm on Channel 7. If you haven’t watched them yet, download the 7plus app and watch it gazillion times.

Episode 2 of All Together Now Australia, my my! My highlight for this episode was the bootylicious and apparently atrocious duo, Adam Hall and Mark Turner. Singing on the show is fairly simple. Just like singing in a karaoke – know what your best assets are! Otherwise, I’d be checking your arses when you leave the stage. The good thing was they had fun and I had fun watching them perform *wink.

Ramos Jakob also has my special mention because of the energy he put up on stage. It made me dance, it made me sing, it made me want to have some more. Good on yah! Meanwhile, Teagan Denham was so adorable belting out that Aerosmith song. She gave it her all but I wanted more from her. She is a good singer and honing that talent would lead her to a very good opportunity in the music industry.

Special mention to Harry Potter (Bailey Elith) who sang okay for me. People have also been asking about Joe Piastrino who looked like Elvis and didn’t do Elvis. Don’t judge the performer by their outfit. It’s all about song choice.

Congratulations to Royston Sagigi-Baira for winning tonight’s episode. You were amazing and your talent was so raw, pure and truly mesmerising. See you at the finals. Let’s see what the next episode entails. Last episode recap, just click here.

This Friday, I will again be at Django performing for another sold out 80’s Funky – Pour it On Tribute (third time’s a charm)!

[addthis tool=addthis_horizontal_follow_toolbox]

Well, that hour and 20 minutes was fast.

Quick recap: Dixie Johnstone was amazing. I loved her look last night. Her voice didn’t shine much probably because of song choice, just like what Mark Gable said. I love pure honesty.

Jared Laurie was very entertaining and fun to watch. It’s unfortunate he didn’t get to the finals and hopefully, we’ll see more of him. There is a thing called ‘wildcard’ where 100 of the judges had to choose their preference and he’s my wild card, there you go.

If you missed last night’s episode, you can watch it by downloading the 7plus app or checking 7plus website.

See you next week and cannot wait for the next performers. Enjoy me and Mary Kiani bouncing for Oklahoma.

It was a great honour to perform with such fabulous and professional musicians last Saturday as part of a new band, Republika. We entertained the crowds at a fantastic victory party for the new president of the Philippines.

We chose the name Republika to pay homage to and remember the freedom achieved in the Philippines, as all the band members have been in the music industry for many years, both here and in the Philippines.

Band members include Oscar “OC” Cabarse on bass, Jay Villanueva on lead, Gerard Dandan on keys, Cho Manila on drums, and Lani Concepcion & Carl de Villa on vocals.

Republika is working hard on new songs and set lists for your future entertainment as well. Stay tuned for more announcements from this exciting new band.

Happy New Year 2016 from Carl De Villa

First of all, Happy New Year to you and I hope you had a blast for the last two long weekend holidays.

Let’s welcome 2016 with good vibes and happiness, so that this year will be filled with good luck, joy and more blessings.

I’m happy to announce that the band M7 is already booked for 2016. Click here to find out where and when M7 will be performing throughout the year. To those of you who always come to our gigs, I’m so thankful for your support. We wouldn’t have this success if not for you. We are here to entertain you (and me, with a glass of whiskey on the rocks, which I always love).

Catch you all again soon and don’t forget to  visit my gigs and events schedule to check on upcoming events.

An original filipino music from my former band, Serendipity, and one of the soundtracks from the movie Crying Ladies (2003) starring Sharon Cuneta, Hilda Coronel, and Angel Aquino. A whimsical comedy about three women who cry at funerals, professionally.

Para Sa Iyo (For you) 2003

Chorus:

Ma-aasahan mo ako ngayon at kailanman

Carl:

Alam ko na minsan ika’y nasasaktan

Huwag ka ng mag-alala

Laging tandaan

Alcee:

Kakayanin natin ang lahat ng darating

Anuman ang mangyari

Makakaya pa rin

Alam ko na parang walang katapusan

Huwag kang magalala

Di kita iiwan
